Quail Run Winter White, or Lizzie, belongs to Patty Lewis.
From Patty....
"Hi Linda..........Lizzie's website picture is PERFECT. She loved it. She is just superb. And beyond. Nothing I throw her way matters. She's just even, steady, happy, hungry, smart, aims to please, athletic and what else
can I say. In my 68 years of "dogging" I've just never been around a more wonderful little critter. I must say that getting her at 5 months old has A LOT to do with it. It never occurs to her to "do her stuff" indoors which
is thanks to you and her mom and grandma. Her teeth are such that it never occurs to her to do my shoes, tables, magazines, papers.......etc. She knows "no." She is happy with her chew stix, etc. At the same time she knows she's just a little thing who needs her mom and pop and acts accordingly. I just spend my days marveling and wondering if I've been out of touch for my 68 years, or if you have a philosophy and environment which nurtures pedigree pups which are almost perfect...whether they are wee pups, or older pups. Some would say it's the breed itself, but I don't think so.

Whatever, your professional abilities have added tremendously to our
lives..........all 3 of us."

Thanks Patty!!

Quail Run Winter Solstice, known as Lindsay, belongs to Shelby Stair Wills.

Shelby writes;

"I wanted to tell you how great she's been doing with kids, since that was something that we knew we wanted to work on.  There have been lots of opportunities for her to meet kids when we're out - they come right up to her.  We had a really cool experience this weekend, when we were waiting outside for brunch in downtown Portland.  Lindsay was gathering quite a crowd of people, and as more people saw how gentle she was, more came up.  There was one little girl in particular who was really sweet.  She had had a bad experience with a dog recently (I think she was bitten) and their family spent about 30 minutes getting her comfortable being near Lindsay.  She eventually got to the point where she was able to drop some food on the ground for Lindsay, and pet her a little bit..   It was so amazing to be able to trust Lindsay completely to be gentle and sweet and confident with her, as she is with all kids.  She is literally the best and sweetest dog that anyone I know has met.  I'm definitely re-motivated to try to do some therapy work with her once my big project is over in September and I get a little more free time to work with her on that."

Thanks Shelby!

Wayne writes;
"Well, we’re almost at two weeks… and enjoying Winnie so much!  We cannot believe how well she has adjusted, she is sleeping in her crate through the night…and in bed with us…smile, she has not had one accident in the house-1st day, we have not heard one bark out of her, she is loving her twice daily walks around the block with us in the morning and evening, loves car rides, eating/drinking with ease now, and Braden and her are the best of friends!  They share toys all day long, and she is so gentle with him…as he is with her. The neighbors have adopted her as the neighborhood mascot!
That’s all for now, again we just wanted to thank you for everything! She is an amazing dog and we love her more every day. What an amazing breed…our family and friends are all jealous…you may get some calls down the road from some interested family members.  Attached I have also included some recent pictures. Take care, we’ll talk to you soon!"

Thanks Wayne!

Deborah writes....

"Thank you for changing my life and choosing Tesouro for me!  He is just what his name means, a treasure.  He is healing myself and my family in a way I never could have imagined.

I highly recommend that anyone who is interested in this breed contact Linda/Quail Run.  It is worth the trip to Oregon.

When I began my research on the cavalier journey, I was fortunate enough to be referred to Linda.  She patiently answered my many questions. In fact, she welcomed them! Whereas other breeders were very difficult to reach by phone and email, Linda was very accessible. She continues to answer my almost daily emails of endless questions with love and care.  I keep asking her if she wants me to condense or stop and she always tells me that she is glad to ALWAYS help with Tesouro's needs.  She continues to consider him a member of her family.

He is so well behaved and so mellow and I have to give Linda most of the credit.

The love you put into your work and the pups is beyond measure.  Thank you for your efforts.  Tesouro thanks you too! "

Thank you Deborah!

Richard writes....
"First, a bit of background. I had been against having a dog since Bonnie and I met six years ago. I liked dogs, but just didn't want
another, even though I completly enjoyed the Great Danes and Golden
Retrievers which I had had over the years.
Bonnie wanted one, but she never brought the subject up, although she
would regularly whip out a dog biscuit and chase down any and every
dog that passed by our shop. One day about five months ago, she
brought home Thor, a young Ruby with a white snip on his face and the
whole, adorable Cavalier package to go with it.

I was on the couch and before I knew what was up, Thor was all over
me, licking me as if I were the sweetest treat in the world.

"What is this and why is it here?"

She explained it was a friends and wasn't it sweet? "Yeah sure" Its
sweet", I deadpanned. Strangely enough 10 minutes later, I heard
something inside me say, maybe we should get one.

And that was after she told me what they cost.

So, I spent the next week looking. There were, of course, lots of
perfectly adorable Cavalier pups for sale, but once I got into the
research, I quickly realized that the most important factor in
getting a pup wasn't the pup but the breeder; all the pupds are cute.

Even then it took a week to find a breeder I was comfortable with and
I was only able to do that after a recommendation from Anne Eckersley
in Connecticut. For an entire week I tracked down breeders, emailed
and called with questions and ,I will tell it truthfully, I was
getting very frustrated.

Now to the good part. We only had to wait five months and after
having him for two weeks I can say he was well worth the wait. We
did have high expectations, but he has far exceeded anything we
imagined he might mean to us.

We took him north to the big city of Astoria after the first week and
when we walked him along the boardwalk and then into town, we kept
hearing the same comment when folks first saw him bouncing along on
the leash:

"Oh MY GOD"!!! Thats what they said, at least SEVEN times.

So, he's cute. Thats for sure. And what about his
intelligence/personality? Heres what he has learned in two weeks,
with notes on training times:

1.crate friendly: when we got him, from DAY ONE.
2.sleeps all night: ditto.
3.house broken: mostly. we had some confusing construction going on
which disrupted his routine, so he has tinkled inside several times
in two weeks, but it was our fault due to the confusion, etc. and
just a few tinkles from a new puppy is OK, after all, isn't it? We
are working on establishing a better routine. and we are not
worried. he goes outside most of the time by far.
4. walks on a leash: that took 15 minutes and he couldn't be better
at it (it MUST be in the blood).
5. sit: a couple of hours. lie down: ditto. Crawl: ditto. Stay:
ditto. flip over: he does it when he wants to, although he did do
it four times when we first taught it too him.
6. come: ditto, although we are working on consistent coming at ALL
times.
7. fetch: hes doing it.

(And thats not the best part: The best part is not what he's learned
but just who he is, how he looks at the world, how he reacts to it
and to us).

I could go on, but you get the point. Now you folks are cavalier
savy and probably find all this unspectacular, but we are not. We
are used to NORMAL dogs that take time to learn things and who are
cute but problematical as puppies.

So we are thankful and so very, very glad we have our new Cavalier
puppy. I told Linda Kornhi that we expected a lot when we got
Charlie. Truthfully, we had no idea how great it would be to have
him. We didn't come to the meeting this month cause he hasn't had
his final shots and we didn't want him to be around many other dogs
yet, but we hope to be there next month and meet everyone with our
new little pup, Charlie, THE WONDER DOG.

And to Linda Kornhi, heartfelt thanks to you. We love him so much."

Thanks Richard!
